Biography of Mora

Gabriel Mora Quintero (born April 18, 1996), known artistically as Mora, is a Puerto Rican urban genre singer, composer, and music producer. After starting his career as a producer and composer with his cousin, Mora jumped onto the scene in 2017 by collaborating with artists such as Rafa Pabón, Big Soto, Myke Towers, and Bad Bunny. With several singles released, in 2018 he signed a contract with Rimas Ent. and shortly after released “Miento” with Ele al El Domino. Other hits of his include “Si tú no estás”, “Nada que perder”, and “Una vez”, in collaboration with Bad Bunny. His debut studio album, “Primer día de clases”, was released in February 2021.

Early years

Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mora developed an interest in music at a very young age. He started playing the flute at age six and then learned to play the piano. During his adolescence, he devoted himself to sports, playing basketball and tennis, but never abandoned music. Upon graduating, he enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico to study Business Administration, but only stayed there for two weeks. That was when he realized that music was the only thing he wanted to do

. Mora decided to pretend he was attending classes for a while and, instead, went to his cousin’s house who had recently graduated in music production. There, they started experimenting with software and producing their own tracks.

Over time, Mora put together his own team and, tired of pretending, talked to his family. He left the University of Puerto Rico and applied to the Berklee School of Music with a video. He was accepted into virtual classes, but soon after resigned. He felt he was learning more and better by experimenting on his own. Gradually, he grew as a producer, through tutorials, tests, and mistakes.

This is how Mora went from producing tracks with his cousin to collaborating with emerging artists in the area. He would finally try his luck on his own in 2017, releasing his first songs then.

Independent artist

One of his first releases was the single “Provocándome” with Luciano in 2017. This was followed by “Señorita” with Rafa Pabon that same year, and then came the successful remix of “Pensabas” with Eladio Carrión

, Brray, and Joyce Santana. The hits didn’t stop there. As an independent artist, Mora also released “Nunca seremos”, “Hasta cuándo”, and the hit “Noche loca”. Thanks to these releases, Mora signed a contract with Rimas Entertainment in 2018.

Debut and career

His first single under Rimas Ent. was “Miento”, a collaboration with Ele al El Domino, which was released in June 2018. He then collaborated again with Rafa Pabón and Brray on the single “Me Jukie”. Throughout the year, Mora continued to release songs. This is how hits such as “Si tú no estás” with Myke Towers, “Reír o llorar“, “Me niego” with Big Soto, and “Nada que perder” with Joyce Santana saw the light. He also released that year the remix of “Noche Loca” with Bryan Myers, De la Ghetto, Jhunn, and Noriel.

Mora started 2019 with the release of “No hay Mañana” with Nio García. Later came the singles “El Recuerdo”, “La Culpa”, and “Perdóname” and in “Bajita” and “Enemiga”, he collaborated with Young Martino. That same year, he released “Dándole” and “No te creo”.

For 2020 he released “Caliente”, “Malagradecida” (with Big Soto) and “Pégate”, whose remix featured a collaboration with Jhay Cortez. It was his collaboration with Bad Bunny

, in “Una Vez”, that took him to the top of the charts. Along with Daddy Yankee, Sech, Anuel AA, and Arcángel, Mora was one of the collaborators on Bad Bunny’s successful album “YHLQMDLG” (or “I Do Whatever I Want”).

First Day of Class (2021)

On February 5, 2021, Mora released his debut studio album, First Day of Class, a 16-song work that featured collaborations with Lunay, Farruco, and Jhay Cortez, among others. The album was a huge success and Mora became the new thing to watch on the scene. Standout tracks from the album include “Cuando Será” (with Lunay), “512” (with Jhay Cortez), “En un Avión” (with Árcangel), “Tuyo” and “Volando”.

After the release of the album, he premiered “Karena Senyummu”. In June, he ventured into a more pop song by releasing “3 de la mañana” with Sebastián Yatra and then premiered the “Volando” remix with Bad Bunny.
