Raymond Guevara (December 16, 1995) was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He is a Puerto Rican singer, considered one of the most important exponents of Latin Trap, alongside Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, and Farruko. Guevara is known by his artistic name Lary Over, with which he gained fame in 2015 when he released his first song “Tú Me Enamoraste,” which went viral shortly after it was released. In just three years, Lary Over has made a name for himself in the music industry and is currently considered one of the pillars of the urban genre. His songs have millions of plays on different digital platforms; among his most played songs are “Sola” (36 million), “Recuerdos” with Farruko and Kelmitt (39 million), and “Súbete” with Lírico en la Casa (86 million).
Guevara is of Puerto Rican and Salvadoran descent through his father, whom he met in June 2018 after a long campaign on social media to find him. Lary Over grew up with his mother and grandmother in Carolina, Puerto Rico, in a neighborhood with serious security problems. Money was scarce, but his mother and he worked hard to support themselves. From an early age, he showed an interest in music, participating in numerous school competitions. As he grew, his passion and focus on music kept him focused and away from the problems of the neighborhood. During this time, his musical inspiration was rapper Meek Mill.
In 2015, after developing his own style and writing his first compositions, he decided to release his first song, titled “Tú Me Enamoraste,” a collaboration with Bryant Myers and Brytiago, great exponents of the urban genre. This song was very well received by the public, turning the singer into a trend. The success of the song earned him the release of the remix, published on April 6, 2016, which featured collaborations with Anuel AA, Bryant Myers, Brytiago, and Almighty. It currently has 119 million plays on Young Hollywood’s YouTube channel.
Since the release of his first song, Lary Over has not stopped working, and in a short time he has collaborated with great references in the urban scene such as Farruko, Bryant Myers, Anuel AA, and Almighty, among others. Throughout 2016 he released numerous songs with Young Hollywood, among the most notable are: “Desnúdate” with Bryant Myers and Jahzel, “Threesome,” “Caribe Hilton” with Bryant Myers, “Loco de amor” with Randy, “Perdóname” with Mike Towers, and “Booty Call” with Farruko. The latter and “Snap Chat” in collaboration with Anuel AA were a resounding success.
That same year, he signed a contract with the record label Carbon Fiber Music, through which he released his music starting in 2017. This year saw the successes “Diabla Remix” with Farruko and Bad Bunny, with a video on Farruko’s official YouTube channel that currently has 85 million plays. He then released “Si Te Busco,” “Medusa,” “Ahora se,” and “Me importa un carajo,” all of which have over 10 million plays. He also participated in the song “Solo” with Nene La Amenaza.
Throughout 2018, he has released a large number of songs, making him one of the pillars of the new generation of the genre. He released his first album, titled El Wason BB (2018), which includes 14 songs; among these are the hits “Eh Eh Oh,” “Beba,” and “Sola.” It also includes some collaborations such as “Harley Quinn” with Rvssian, “El Zorro” with Brytiago, and “Solo Remix” with Amenazzy and Farruko. This album ranked on the Latin American music charts, including on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums list. That same year he participated in the album Trap Capos II, with Arcángel, Bad Bunny, Bryant Myers, Farruko, Noriel, Prince Royce, and Zion.
Between 2017 and 2018, he has performed numerous shows in the United States, establishing himself as one of the most listened-to Latin Trap artists in the country. He has also visited various countries in Latin America and Central America, and is currently planning a Wason BB tour in the United States and Europe. His most recent song is “Súbete” with Lirico en la Casa, which has over 86 million plays on YouTube. Lary Over’s or Wason’s, as his fans call him due to his green hair and tattoos resembling the Joker, career is just beginning, but he has already consolidated himself as a reference in the urban music scene, and his potential on the scene promises more successes and collaborations in the coming years.
After a short but promising career in the music industry, Lary Over announced his retirement as a singer. In his own words, he stated that he was “sorry for singing secular music” because he “found Jesus,” which represented a spiritual change for Raymond. His new spiritual facet was at odds with the artistic life he had led up until then, with the lyrics of his songs and the effects that, in Lary Over’s opinion, his music can have on young people.
