Caleb McLaughlin (October 13, 2001) is an American actor, born in Carmel, New York. His popularity is largely due to his selection to play the role of Simba in the musical The Lion King and, since 2016, for his role as Lucas Sinclair in the successful Netflix series, Stranger Things.

Beginnings

Caleb McLaughlin was born on October 13, 2001 in Carmel, New York. He grew up with his parents April and Corey McLaughlin and his three siblings. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to New York to take advantage of artistic opportunities. During his time in New York, McLaughlin studied dance for a year at Happy Feet Dance School and then at The Harlem School of the Arts under the guidance of The Lion King producer, Aubrey Lynch. These studies gave him the tools and training necessary to begin his career as an actor.

Caleb McLaughlin’s artistic career

Caleb McLaughlin has had a prominent career on television, with roles in productions such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the episode “Born Psychopath” and in the episode “New Hundred” of the police drama series Unforgettable aired by CBS. In 2013, he brought to life the character of Alejandro in the episode “The Pugilist Break” of the American television series by Matt Miller, which was broadcasted by ABC in September 2014 and then taken off air the following year, in Forever. Additionally, in 2016, McLaughlin participated in the police dramas Shades of Blue and Blue Bloods before landing his most recognizable role in the cult series Stranger Things, playing Lucas Sinclair. In 2017 he won the category of Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance in Stranger Things. That same year he appeared in the miniseries The New Edition Story, in the role of Ricky Bell.
