Drake Biography

Drake, born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a singer and actor whose birth name is Aubrey Drake Graham. His father, Dennis Graham, was a drummer and his mother, Sandi Graham Sher, was an educator. Drake received a Jewish education from his mother and was also very close to music thanks to his uncles Larry Graham and Teenie Hodges. He had his Bar Mitzvah and attended a Jewish school. When Drake was five years old, his parents separated and he had to face difficult situations with his mother, who had an accident and could no longer work. They ended up living in a room in the basement. Despite having difficulties finishing his studies, Drake managed to graduate in October 2012.

At 15 years old, Drake played a role in the Canadian television series Degrassi: The Next Generation as Jimmy Brooks. His performance was so good that he was on several seasons until 2009, recording a total of 138 episodes. Then, he started to get involved in the music world; he recorded his first songs and mixtapes, paying for the recording with his earnings as an actor. At that time, he was dating Canadian singer Keshia Chanté. In 2009, he managed to sign with Young Money Entertainment and then joined Lil Wayne. In 2010, he released his first studio album, Thank Me Later, which became number one on the Billboard 200

thanks to the singles “Over” and “Find Your Love”, which had great success and allowed him to be known worldwide.

In 2011, Drake released Take Care, which had a resounding success by reaching the top of the charts in the United States and Canada. It included the songs “Headlines”, “Take Care”, “Make Me Proud” and “The Motto”. He began promoting his work on the Club Paradise Tour, the most successful within the hip-hop genre in 2012, which raised over 42 million dollars. His third studio album was called Nothing Was the Same and was released with the singles “Started from the Bottom” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home”. His name was already very popular by 2014, especially when he collaborated with Romeo Santos on the second single from his album Formula, Vol. 2, titled “Odio“.

On February 12, 2015, Drake surprised the public and his fans when he released If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late on iTunes. In a few months, the song sold over 1 million copies, becoming the first artist with a platinum album that year. Later, he presented along with rapper Future the album What a Time to be Alive, which reached the top of the Billboard 200,

Billboard R & B Charts, and Billboard Hot Rap Songs. The successes didn’t take long to arrive: it reached number 1 on the Canadian Hot 100. The song “Hotline Bling”, released as a digital single on July 31, 2015, reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Drake’s first top-10 in two years. The official video was released on October 19, 2015 through Apple Music and later on Vevo.

In 2016, Drake released Summer Sixteen during OVO Sound Radio on Beats, which was a preview of his upcoming album Views. He became the first non-British artist to sign with Skepta and his label Boy Better Know. On April 5, Drake released two new singles: “One Dance” with Wizkid and Kyla, and “Pop Style” with Jay-Z and Kanye West. On the cover of the album, Drake appears seated at the top of the CN Tower, one of Toronto’s most famous buildings. The album was released via streaming on Apple Music and iTunes. It reached the top of the Billboard chart, selling 851,000 copies in its first week. “One Dance” was also a number one success in countries such as the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Sweden, France, and Belgium.

Personal life of Drake

Drake had a relationship with Rihanna from 2009 to 2016, but the relationship was unstable and had several conflicts, which did not allow the relationship to thrive. Drake admits that he felt very sad because he wanted to start a family with her. In 2017, he had a son, Adonis, as a result of his relationship with French adult film actress Sophie Brussaux. The pregnancy sparked many rumors, but after the birth, Drake confirmed his paternity on his album Scorpion in 2018. The performances of this well-known artist have mostly been conflictive, he had problems with Pusha T and Common. He was also involved in a physical altercation against Chris Brown, allegedly throwing glass bottles at Chris Brown at a nightclub called WIP in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, New York.

On July 16, 2014, Chris Brown and Drake showed that their conflict was over. Later, he had a disagreement with rapper Meek Mill, because Mill posted on Twitter a strong critique for using ghostwriters. Drake responded implicitly with a song called “Charged Up”. Then, Meek Mill responded with “Wanna Know”.
