Adriel Favela (August 26, 1993) is a Mexican singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist; a figure in the Norteño regional genre. Favela began his music career in 2011 with the album Favela Por Herencia, and in 2014 he achieved success with the hit “Es Tiempo de Guerra,” included on his second album Mujeres De Tu Tipo. This was followed by successful tracks such as “Te Acuerdas De Tu Amiga,” “Me Llamo Juan,” “Tomen Nota,” and “Mis Gustos, Mis Placeres.” Favela has collaborated with Los Del Arroyo, Cornelio Vega y su Dinastía, and Los Chaparros, among others. He is currently one of the best exponents of Norteño music.
A native of Sinaloa, Favela was raised by his mother after his father abandoned them when he was just a child. When he was three years old, his mother sent him to live with his grandparents in the United States so they could take care of him while she worked to provide for him. Eventually, his grandparents passed away and Favela returned to the care of his mother, who never stopped working to provide for him. His mother always supported him and worked hard to ensure he had a happy life.
Music was always a part of his life: as a child he played the piano, drums, and accordion. However, it was in his youth that he began to forge a career for himself. Adriel participated in various performances and uploaded some of his songs to YouTube, where he quickly gained recognition. Thanks to this, Favela began to catch the attention of record labels and eventually signed a contract in 2014.
In 2011, at just 18 years old, Adriel made his debut with the release of Favela Por Herencia (2011). The album consisted of twelve songs, including: “Ivan el Chapito Guzman,” “En el Infierno los Miro,” “Mil Lagrimas,” and “Tuyo Por Siempre.” It took some time, but in 2014 he signed a contract with Gerencia Music 360, the label under which he released his second album, Mujeres De Tu Tipo (2014). Mujeres De Tu Tipo (2014) included the successful hit “Es Tiempo de Guerra,” which helped Favela enter the top of the Mexican regional charts.
Fame arrived and he was just beginning. The successes did not stop, in July 2015 the successful single “Te Acuerdas De Tu Amiga” was released and immediately topped the charts. That same year, Favela released his third album Tomen Nota (2015), which included the famous hit “El Tiempo es Caro (A.K.A Los Ninis)” and the collaboration, which gave its name to the album, “Tomen Nota” ft. Los Del Arroyo.
In July 2017, Adriel Favela returned with Azul se Mira (2017), a 10-song album in which he sought to defend discriminated Latin immigrants in the United States. “Me Llamo Juan,” “El Camello,” “Sueño a Lo Grande,” and “Chequen el Porte” were some of the songs included on the album.
In 2018, Favela began the year with the release of “Como No Acordarme,” a single that was followed by “Cuando los Necesité” and his next album, Señalado por Costumbre (2018). Señalado por Costumbre was released in August 2018, full of collaborations such as “Para que Me Quejo” with Leandro Ríos, “El Corrido del Snap” with Omar Ruiz, “El Samo” with Enigma Norteño, and “La Escuela no me Gusto” with Jonatan Sánchez. The album also featured the participation of Colombian singer Giovanny Ayala for the song “No te ilusiones tanto.”
After Señalado por Costumbre, Adriel Favela released two singles in 2019. The first was “Un Placer, Fui El Chamaco,” live with the collaboration of Javier Rosas y Su artillería, and the second was “Miami Vibe,” which he recorded with Código FN. Both singles were released on July 26.
In September 2020, Favela released “Ya lo verás,” a collaboration with Bryant Myers and Alcover, which was followed by “Chequen el Porte (Remastered),” a remastered version of his 2017 single included on the EP Remastered Project, Vol. 1. Two months later, in November 2020, Remastered Project, Vol. 2 was released, a sequel to the previous EP that featured the participation of Cornelio Vega y Su dinastía and Noel Torres.
Later that year, Favela collaborated with Natanael Cano for the single “Así Tocó Mi Vida.”
Throughout 2021, Favela released several singles, including the collaborations “No Le Temo a la Muerte” with Tony Aguirre, “Al Millón” with Fuerza Regida, “EL BO” with El Bala, and “Maldito” with Brandon Reyes and Elvin. After “No Le Temo a la Muerte,” the single “Eres” was released in February 2021. A few months later, in May, he released the EP Adicción, a five-song work that included tracks such as “Pa Que No Se Animen,” “Solo Sufrió,” and “El Compa Rafa.”
In August 2021, Favela signed a major contract with Fonovisa Records, a Universal Music Latin America record label, and launched his own label, Esperanto Music Group, in partnership with Fonovisa, with the aim of supporting new talents in the Mexican regional genre. Once the label was established, Favela returned with “444 X Tipo Need For Speed” on September 10, 2021. Then, in October, “Lágrimas De Miel” was released, the third single from his album Cosas del Diablo. The song featured a melancholic, vulnerable sierreña melody, addressing themes of heartbreak and forgetfulness.
In March 2022, Adriel Favela released his sixth studio album, Cosas del Diablo. The album addressed the darkest moments of his life: his struggle with alcoholism, the loss of his grandmother, and the romantic entanglements he has faced in the last three years. The work included a total of 15 songs, mostly released in 2021, such as “El Bo,” “444 X Tipo Need For Speed,” “Maldito,” and “Lágrimas De Miel.”
Other tracks on the album included “Bayo 17” with Luis R Conriquez, “Con Un Botecito A Pecho” with Carin León, and “Contigo No Fue” with La Cotorrisa and Strecci. After its release, the album was a trend and also featured a special edition in which Favela talked about the creative process.
A month later, Favela released “Estamos Aquí,” his pop collaboration with singer-songwriter León Leiden
Favela was in a relationship with model and YouTuber Kiarybel Lara, with whom he had his first child in 2019. At that time, the couple had ended and the singer was quite reluctant after the news. He even requested a paternity test. Once the baby was born, Favela mentioned that the mother did not allow him to visit, but she publicly denied this.
His current partner is singer Estibaliz Badiola. In 2022, Favela confirmed his intention to marry Badiola.
