Marcus Rashford biography

Marcus Rashford is an English football player who plays as a striker. He is rewarded for being one of the promising players in world football, for his speed, control of the ball and definition; also, for being one of the youngest in the England team. He was born on October 31, 1997, in (Manchester, England) and is the son of Robert Rashford and Melanie Rashford.

Marcus Rashford was formed in the Manchester United academy since 2014, a club in which he went through all the categories demonstrating in each one all his talent until he managed to be promoted to the first team.

On February 25, 2016, he was summoned by coach Louis van Gaal to face the return match against Midtjylland, corresponding to the round of 32 of the Europe League. Due to an injury of Anthony Martial in the pre-match warm-up, Rashford made his professional debut in that match. In addition, he was able to score his first goal as a professional in the victory of his team 5 to 1, thus sealing the classification to the round of 16 with a global score of 6 to 3.

The young player became the youngest goalscorer in the history of Manchester United in European competition, after scoring being 18 years and 117 days. After finishing the day, was included in the team of the week of UEFA Europa League and was highlighted as the best of the day.

For February 28, 2016, Marcus Rashford made his debut in the Premier League in a match against Arsenal, where he also managed to score two goals in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory. He was chosen as the best player of the match and became the youngest debutant in the Premier League to score a double. Thanks to the excellent level shown in his first two games, he was chosen by the fans as the player of the month of February of Manchester United.

On March 13, 2016, he made his debut in the FA Cup, where he started in the game against West Ham, which was 1-1, in the tiebreaker game, his team managed to qualify for the next round. On March 20 of that same year, he played his first Derby against Manchester City, where he managed to score the winning goal for his team 1-0.

On April 23, 2016, Marcus Rashford played the FA Cup semifinal, where Manchester beat Everton 2-1 and qualified for the final. On May 21 of that same year, he played the final of the FA Cup where he had to be replaced by an injury. However, Manchester United managed to beat Crystal Palace 2-1, so Rashford managed to lift his first professional title.

At the end of the season, Marcus Rashford played 18 games, in which he scored 8 goals and gave 2 assists. In addition, he extended his contract with the club until June 30, 2020.

He started the 2016-2017 season with the Community Shield dispute on August 7, when he entered the 70th minute in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory against Leicester City. In that way, Rashford managed to get his second title with Manchester United.

During the 2016-2017 season, Marcus Rashford participated in all competitions. On February 26, 2017, he won another title with Manchester United, after the 3-2 victory against Southampton in the final of the EFL Cup (League Cup). On May 24 of that same year, Manchester United was crowned UEFA European League champion, after winning in the final 2-0 to Ajax, so the player won his fourth title with the red devils’ team. At the end of the season, Rashford played 53 games, in which he gave 7 assists and scored 11 goals.

 

ENGLAND NATIONAL TEAM

Marcus Rashford began his process with the England national team from the U-16 category until reaching the absolute. He was summoned for the first time to the English U-16 team, to face the Victory Shield, a friendly tournament between the teams of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. He made his debut on September 27, 2012, in the game against Northern Ireland, where his team won by 5 to 0.

On November 5, 2014, coach Neil Dewsnip called Marcus to play two friendly matches against Poland’s U-18.

Marcus Rashford debuted with England’s U-20 team on March 27, 2016, where his team was defeated 2-1 against Canada.

On May 16, 2016, the coach of the England absolute national team, Roy Hodgson, called Rashford for the first time, to play a series of friendly matches, which gave him the opportunity to show himself and remain in the final squad to play the Euro cup.

On May 27, 2016, he made his debut with the senior team in a match against Australia, where he managed to score his first goal with the team in England’s 2-1 victory. At 18 years and 208 days, he became the third youngest player to score with the national team, only behind Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen. His excellent performance made him be on the list of 23 players to face the Eurocup 2016.

The talent of Marcus Rashford continued breaking schemes and began to be called to face the qualifiers to the Russian World Cup 2018. On October 9, 2017, the young player was part of the team that managed to seal the classification of England to the world cup, after leading your group with 26 points. In this elimination phase, Rashford managed to score 1 goal.
