Kidd Keo biography

Padua Keoma Salas Sanchez (September 27, 1995) is a Spanish singer and songwriter born in Alicante, Valencia, Spain. He is known in the music scene by his artistic name Kidd Keo and is considered one of the most relevant artists in the Spanish trap scene. He gained fame in 2014 with the songs “Superman OG,” “S.L.A.P,” and “Like That,” which quickly became a trend. His style and uncensored lyrics that mix English and Spanish have allowed him to position himself among the new artists in the trap scene.

Personal life

Very little is known about the artist’s personal life. It is known that he was raised by his mother in a humble neighborhood in Spain and due to the lack of money and his mother’s lifestyle, he had to move several times and even slept on the street on some occasions. However, this did not affect his upbringing as a person. He also lived in Canada with part of his family and fluently learned English, which can be appreciated in his songs. During his adolescence, he began to be interested in the world of music and fashion. He designed shirts, composed songs, and made his own high-quality videos.

Kidd Keo’s beginnings

Kidd Keo began to move in the underground music scene in the early 2010s, during which he began to compose his own songs. These first songs were generally uploaded to his Soundcloud account, but were deleted in 2014 when the artist decided to restart his career. At just nineteen years old, he released his first hits: “Superman OG”, “Maserati”, “S.L.A.P”, “Like That”, “Money” and “Pablo”.

These songs showcase the fresh style of Atlanta trap mixed with Latin trap and old school rap. From the beginning, he is heard rapping in English with ease and good pronunciation, a detail that his fans and critics have highlighted in his music, as other trap scene artists do not speak the language well and their pronunciation is not good.

Musical career

After gaining fame in the underground scene, he began to gain popularity in 2015 with the songs “The Better Life,” “Hold On,” and “Relax.” The latter quickly became a trend and placed him on the list of the most promising new artists in the trap scene. The success of “Relax” was surpassed by the single “Okay,” a Spanish adaptation of the song “Débrouillard” by French trapper Damso. After it was released, the song quickly went viral, allowing the artist’s fame to spread. Currently, this song has over 31 million views on YouTube

and is seen as one of the references for Spanish trap.

Throughout 2016, he released the singles “The Lil Kid,” “Kylo Ren,” “Los Más Pegaos,” “Stress,” and “Trippy Level” with Yung Sarria and Elegvngster. In early 2017, he released “A.N.A.,” “Words,” “Back to the Future,” and “Mami Bills” with Mad Bass. Some of these songs have their own music video on the artist’s YouTube channel and have currently exceeded one million plays. At the end of June 2017, “Facing Life” and its animated music video produced by SHB were released, followed by the singles “One Million” and “Me la Suda” and the collaborations “Don’t Hit My Line” with Mad Bass and “Buscando” with Yung Sarria.

That same year he released the EP Old Times in Gotham (2017), which consists of six explicit language songs, highlighting “Understand Me,” “0640,” and “Runnaman.” The music videos for the songs “Understand Me” and “0640” have thirteen million and four million plays, respectively

. At the end of the year, he released the EPs Welcome to Gotham (2017) and The Giant (2017), the latter of which includes the song “Lollypop,” which quickly became a trend. “Lollypop” was also heavily criticized, even being called sexist for the song’s lyrics.

In response to the criticism, Kidd Keo responded with a message on his Instagram account acknowledging the strength of the song and calling his fans hypocritical for not accepting the reality addressed in the song. Despite the criticism, this song is one of the artist’s most well-known and currently has over 36 million plays on YouTube. In 2018, Kidd Keo released the singles “Igot,” “Touchdown” with Aleman, “Let M3 Xplain,” and “Dracukeo,” and the albums Kidd Keo (2018) and Keoland (2018), the latter of which includes the songs “Skrr” with Cheu-B, “#Freetag,” and “Miss U.” In early 2019, he released the single “Pitbull” and its music video.
