Hugh Jackman Biography

Hugh Michael Jackman (October 12, 1968) actor. He was born in New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. His father, Christopher John Jackman, was an accountant at the University of Cambridge, and Grace McNeil, his mother, who was dedicated to the care of their children. His parents were born in England, but they moved to Australia in 1967 through an immigration project in order to find better opportunities. Jackman was raised in a Christian environment. He had to face the separation of his parents when he was eight years old, his mother returned to England. His father married again and had another child. But the boy stayed with his father.

Despite this, he was a happy child. His hobbies were being outdoors, spending a lot of time on the beach, camping, and traveling all over Australia. Jackman attended the primary school Pymble Public School and in his adolescence, he attended the male school Knox Grammar School, in this place he began to act in plays and to discover his talent and taste for acting. The first work in which he intervened was My Fair Lady in 1985. Upon graduation, he spent a sabbatical year working at the Uppingham School in England. Then, he studied journalism at the University of Technology Sydney, before graduating took advantage of some courses of action offered by the university.

He was really fascinated with his performance, so he began studying theater at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth (WAAPA). We must mention that up to this point Jackman had not contemplated the idea of ​​dedicating himself to the theater. Now, he began to act in small plays and musicals in the city. Then, in 1995 he got the chance to act in the Australian drama series broadcast by the ABC Australia channel Correlli, where he worked with the actress Deborra-Lee Furness, whom he married on April 11, 1996, in St. John’s. Although the series only lasted only one season it was a big window for Jackman.

The couple tried to have two children, but unfortunately, Furness had miscarriages, for that reason the couple decided to adopt a son, Oscar Maximillian, and later a daughter, Ava Eliot. Later he won a place to act in the musical The beauty and the beast giving life to Gastón, he was also in the Sunset Boulevard production, and others, like the play Oklahoma (1998), a production of the Royal National Theater, thanks to his performance was nominated for the Olivier Awards for Best Actor in a musical. Unfortunately, in 2013 the Australian actor reported that he suffered from basalioma or basal cell carcinoma in the nose, a type of mild skin cancer. Since 2005 Jackman and his assistant John Palermo decided to create a production company: Seed Productions, whose first project was Viva Laughlin in 2007. The wife of Jackman Deborra-Lee Furness is also part of the company. They have focused on the making of independent films and series and dealt with the realization of the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). He is located in Fox, Australia, with the aim of promoting and taking advantage of the local talent of this country.
