Charles Manson Biography

Charles Manson (November 11, 1934) is one of the most popular psychopath in history. He was given birth at the General Hospital of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. His mother was only 16 when he was born. Her name was Kathleen Maddox. Charles did not know who his biological father was.

Shortly after his birth, his mother married a worker named William Manson, who gave him his last name. Without a known father, rumors claim that his father was known as “Colonel Scott”. This man was involved in some murders. Kathleen Maddox, his mother, filed a paternity suit against him. Scott ignored the call of the law.

In his childhood, Charles was scorned by his mother, who was involved in some illegal activities when she was six years old and later, Kathleen was sentenced to prison for stealing gasoline. Charles visited her with her grandparents. Then, he was assigned to live with his aunt Joanne; a religious, fanatical, intransigent and full of limits woman. The relationship between the two of them was not good, they argued, and Charles would challenge her authority.

When his mother turns five years in prison, Charles was able to come back and live with her. They lived a very nomadic life and were known by the criminal acts of Kathleen. After that, Kathleen would fall in love with a man who hated Charlie, so she decided to give up the kid to social services

Charles had gone through a lot of harsh moments and he ended up committing to a criminal life. Shortly after his mom gave him up, he was sentenced to five years for robbery and assault. He was sent to a reformatory, in fact, he went through many. He did that kind of acts repeatedly.

When he reached 21 years old, he was captured and left in prison constantly. The first time, for stealing a car. Then, when he turned 37, he lived his longest time outside of prison and started to gather followers in such a way that, over time, Manson was leading a group. The “Manson Family,” as he baptized them.

Under the effect of psychoactive substances, Manson would have sexual relations with some of his female followers. Charles tried to recruit girls from good families who felt dissatisfied and oppressed by society.

The Manson family decided to live rural places like ranches. Places where they could live away from the news, the luxuries. They even would eat food that was thrown in the garbage. The family was conformed by Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie van Houten. Susan was a librarian assistant at the University of Berkeley and a radical ecologist. She had a son with Manson named Michael Brunner Manson. Later, she would travel with Manson all around the United States recruiting more followers. Patricia, was a lawyer intern when she joined “The Manson Family”. She lived unsatisfied with her life. Finally, Leslie, the youngest, was 19 years old and belonged to the middle class of southern California. She met Manson during a party with friends, at that time she was facing her parents’ divorce, besides her friends turned their backs on her and she had had an abortion.

On July 26, 1969, “The Manson Family” committed its first crime. Three members of the group, Bobby Beausoleil, Susan Atkins and Mary Brunner, broke into the home of the producer Gary Hinman. They kidnapped Hinman and tortured him to death with several stabs in the chest. The goal was to steal $ 20,000 that he had at home. Then, the police managed to capture Beausoleil, who was sentenced to prison for several years.

Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian arrived on August 8, 1969, to “Cielo Drive”, a luxurious home located in the district of Beverly Hills. At that time, the beautiful Sharon Tate, wife of the popular director Roman Polanski lived there. That night, she met with some friends: Abigail Folger, Voytek Frykowski, and Jay Sebring a hair stylist for celebrities. After cutting off the electricity from the house, they attacked without mercy. Tate received 16 stabs. Sebring one shot and seven knife wounds. Abigail 28 stabs, and Krenwinkel, 51 stabs and two shots.

Later, they would attack Rosemary and Leno LaBianca. First, they stole their belongings and then Leno was stabbed four times in his throat with a kitchen knife. On the other hand, Rosemary died suffocated with a pillow plus 41 knife stabs. Once the couple was dead, Manson marked the man’s abdomen with the word War. In addition, on the LaBianca’s living room wall, written in blood, were the words “Death to pigs” and “RISE”, and on the refrigerator door was written, “Healter Skelter.” After the police investigations, the Manson Family was captured in 1971 in Death Valley, California.
