Robert Pattinson Biography

Robert Thomas Pattinson (May 13, 1986) He was born in London, England. British actor, singer, and model, famous for having played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and co-starred in the Twilight Saga between 2008 and 2012 with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. He began his career as a model at age twelve and subsequently began working as an actor playing small roles in the works of the Barnes Theater Company. He debuted on television in 2004 with the adaptation Ring of the Nibelungs and shortly after he rose to fame appearing in the renowned fantasy saga Harry Potter (2005). In 2008 he consolidated himself as one of the best-known actors when playing the young vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. Among his extensive filmography, the titles stand out: Unlimited (2008), Remember Me (2010), Cosmopolis (2012) and Damsel (2018).

 

FAMILY AND BEGINNINGS

Son of car importing entrepreneur Richard Pattinson and his wife Clare Pattinson, who works in a modeling agency. Pattinson grew up with her older sisters Victoria and Lizzy in Barnes. He studied at the private school for men Tower House School, from which he was expelled at age twelve. He subsequently entered Harrodian School, where he began to develop his interest in art and music. He learned to compose lyrics and to play the piano and guitar. Thanks to his androgynous appearance, he began working as a model at age twelve, however, this facet as a model was short and fruitless initially, as his features began to change.

While attending classes at Harrodian School, in 2001 he joined the Barnes Theater Company for apprentices or beginners, getting his first role in the play Guys and Dolls. A short time later he performed in the works Thornton Wilder, Anything Goes Macbeth and Our Town. While playing a small role in the play, Tess of the D’Urbervilles caught the attention of an agent, who since then began looking for professional roles. In 2004, he debuted as an actor on television with the German film Ring of the Nibelungs (The Ring of the Nibelungs, 2004), a film based on Norse mythology, which tells the story of Sigurd, the mythical warrior descendant of Sigmund, King of the Franks.

 

ROBERT PATTINSON’S ACTING CAREER

Having played Giselher, brother of King Gunther in Ring of the Nibelungs (2004), Pattinson appeared in Vanity Fair (2004), a film starring Reese Witherspoon, Romola Garai, and James Purefoy, in which he played to the young Rawdy Crawly, however, his scenes were eliminated, so he can only be seen in the DVD edition of the film. A year later he played the young magic student Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), the fourth installment of the saga of the famous magician, in which Pattinson is seen competing in the Three Wizard Tournament alongside the representatives of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang schools of magic. This film announces the return of The One Who Must Not Be Named, Lord Voldemort with the death of Diggory.

Two years after his successful appearance in the Harry Potter Saga, Pattinson was named an honorary member on the list of The Cotaire and became the image of the advertising campaign of the fall season of the Hackett brand. That same year it was announced that he would play Edward Cullen, young vampire star of the play Stephenie Meyer, Twilight. The Saga of five books in which the love story of the young immortal and the human Bella Swan is narrated, who for reasons of destiny becomes the only human whose blood is irresistible to the vampire.

This popular romantic saga for teenagers became a success after the publication of their first installment in 2005, a short time later it was continued with the books New Moon (New Moon, 2006), Eclipse (2007), Dawn (Breaking Dawn, 2008 ) and Midnight Sun (Midnight Sun, 2015). In the first film of the five installments, Pattinson participated in the soundtrack with the themes Let me Sign and Never think.

After the success of the first installment of Twilight, Pattinson acted in How to Be (2008) by Oliver Irving and Unlimited (2008) by Paul Morrison. The film Morrison focused on the passionate romantic relationship that surrealist painter Salvador Dalí (Robert Pattinson) and the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca (Javier Beltrán) had during the 1920s. Then the second installment of Saga, New Moon ( 2009) and shortly after he presented the romantic drama Remember Me (Remember Me, 2010), a film that tells the story of a young man who dies in the attacks on the Twin Towers, on September 11, 2001. The following year it became the image of Dior’s new advertising campaign for the Dior Homme Perfume perfume, acting in the promotional short film with Camille Rowe. A short time later he was seen in the film The Rover (2014) by David Michôd and in the drama of Werner Herzog, The Queen of the Desert (Queen of the Desert, 2015), with James Franco and Nicole Kidman; He also starred in the biographical film Life: The Life of James Deán (2015), playing Dennis Stock.

In recent years he has acted in various films such as Z: the lost city (2017) by James Gray, Good Time: living at the limit (2017) of the Safdie brothers (Ben and Josh), Damsel (2018) of the Zellner brothers ( David and Nathan), High Life (2018) by Claire Denis and The Lighthouse (2019) by Robert Eggers. In 2017 he presented his first short film entitled Fear and Shame (2017), which he starred in, wrote and directed. He is currently recording the films The King, The Devil All the Time and The Souvenir: Part II, among others. It was recently announced that Pattinson would play the famous DC hero, Batman in the new Matt Reeves movie.
